Introduction

Working with CivicActions.

Questions

  • Who are the participants? What are their levels of engagement? Is the expectation that those who participate primarily online will have the same level of engagement as those who participate face-to-face?
  • How will video be used?

Analysis

The big challenge when integrating Collab:Online and Face-to-Face Collaboration will be balancing the power dynamics. The process and space should not create a haves-and-have-nots divide, at least not unintentionally.

Use process to leverage simple tools. Create useful artifacts from face-to-face engagements that can provoke. Don't try to synthesize everything that happens. For example:

  • Publishing whiteboard images that can be panned, zoomed, and annotated (perhaps using PanoJS and Fotonotes).
  • 1 minute videos answering one question.
