Moderating a panel on social media and direct democracy. Panelists:

  • Warren Slocum, the registrar-recorder in San Mateo County. He's been probably the most innovative elections official in the state, in terms of embracing technology (for reasons of access and environmentalism--he doesn't like paper).
  • Bryan Merica, founder of Activate Direct (sponsor of the panel)

Possible panelists:

  • Michael Remmert. In charge of e-voting and social media for the Council of Europe. (COE is older, bigger and weaker than the EU--includes 47 countries). It's sort of a UN for Europe, with a pretty good record of working on human rights stuff.
  • Jen Pahlka
  • Someone knowledgeable about the Global South.
