Collaboration School

How does an organization catalyze a network without trying to be the network? My approach to this challenge is to do network-wide activities that are Neutral Space and smaller, community-oriented activities that are Blue Oxen-centric. For now, I'm giving the latter set of activities the moniker, "Collaboration School."

It would not be a school in the traditional sense.

There would be some upper limit on size.

As with everything, we would aggressively encourage anyone to copy parts or all of the model, while also strongly encouraging them to stay tied to the network.

One of the keys to success will be lowering the barriers for different communities to participate. Every community generally has budget for learning, as always as expectations for what constitutes learning. Many companies, for example, won't compensate employees who want to attend Bar Camp, for example. I'll need to figure out how to frame the activities of Collaboration School so that it fits into different community's world views, while retaining the authenticity of the vision.

Training

The goal here would be to baseline people's knowledge while also identifying and recruiting more active community members. I use "training" loosely. I want to Avoid Training in the traditional, top-down sense.

High-Level Gatherings

With a twist. Strong emphasis on diversity in attendance and interaction among participants.

Current examples:

Incubator / Immersion
