Today, we’re launching our newest Sensemaking Series on Wikis, coached by Peter Kaminski. In these tough economic times, collaborating and managing our knowledge is even more critical. You can’t afford not to think about the tools and the training that could improve your business processes.

Wikis are one of those tools. They’ve been a core part of our work from the very beginning, and their usage has exploded in the six years since.

The challenge is in figuring out how to integrate Wikis into your work. As with any collaborative tool, it’s not enough to simply set one up. You have to be intentional about your goals and expectations, even if one of those goals is, “Let’s see what emerges.” When used correctly, Wikis can be absolutely transformational.

In a way, Wikis are the perfect topic for our Sensemaking Series, because they are deceptively simple. A little bit of expert guidance can go a long way, which is exactly what the Sensemaking Series is about.

Peter Kaminski is the perfect coach for the topic. He co-founded Socialtext, which was not just the first enterprise Wiki company, it was the first Wiki company period. More importantly, he’s been an amazing community leader, treating everyone — regardless of experience — with friendliness and compassion. Pete’s just great to be around, and the fact that he’s thoughtful and knowledgeable makes him a true force to be reckoned with.

I’m thrilled to be offering this new series, and I’m thrilled that Pete will be coaching it. The series will be on Tuesdays at 9am PT / 12pm ET, beginning on May 19 and ending on June 9. Registration starts now. Hurry — there are only five spots. Use the discount code blueoxen for $50 off the registration fee.
