New Workshop: The Sensemaking Series

Posted on February 24, 2009 at 8:46 pm by Eugene Eric Kim

Last year, I started thinking about the impact of our work and especially where we’ve been most successful. We’ve done a pretty good job spreading our knowledge, and we’ve got some new ideas up our sleeves. However, regardless of how innovative we’ve tried to be, the truth is that nothing beats small group learning with a skilled facilitator who’s an expert in the field.

It’s been almost stunning to see how much more effective this model has been than anything else we’ve tried thus far. Given this fact, I started thinking about how we could leverage this model to help even more people make their way around the increasingly complex topics related to collaboration.

The result was the Sensemaking Series. It’s a four week, one hour a week learning session for small groups (no larger than five people), coached by friendly experts in the field. We hold the sessions over the phone, and we map the sessions using a shared screen, so you can learn from the comfort of your office or home. You’ll also have an opportunity to develop relationships with others sharing similar challenges as you.

Our first series will be on Internet Identity, coached by my friend and colleague, Gabe Wachob. Gabe has been on the forefront of the digital identity space for a long time, and he’s also one of the clearest thinkers and communicators I know. He’ll be offering two series in March: one on Tuesdays and another on Thursdays.

If you need guidance on this topic or if you know of others who might, please point them our way. Register with the discount code, “blueoxen”, and you’ll get $50 off the registration fee.

We plan on offering several other topics related to collaboration, coached by other colleagues from our community. If you have thoughts or questions, feel free to post them here.
